Australia or China? The Ravishing Affects of COVID on Liberty
Or How To Become A Totalitarian Democracy In 20 months
I used to think Australia was a model for liberty, yet here they are:
The video just scratches the surface, other China like acts implemented in Australia include:
Sydney has been in lockdown since June, which has been extended to the end of September with a 9 pm to 5am curfew.
The entire state of Victoria is locked down.
Cars are being stopped to determine if the occupants are illegally out of their homes.
Over 3,000 troops have been deployed to enforce the lockdowns and counter protests - which are often more riot than protest. They are also used to make door-to-door checks on those who are quarantined in their homes.
At least two apartment buildings, one in Sydney and the other in Melbourne, were placed in “hard lockdown” for at least 14 days. Armed guards patrolled around the buildings to make sure no one left.
ABC Australia is reporting that Queensland, the third most populous state in Australia, is building a regional quarantine facility that will hold up to 1,000 people. Video of Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszcuk bragging about this project. Wonder if she’s auditioning for a part in a future horror move, because this is Scream scary.
Those found to be in violation of the lockdown orders are fined A$5,452, about $3,987 (why the odd number for a fine. A$5,452 really? Why not A$5,000 or A$5,500?).
The restrictions Australia is putting into effect in the name of stopping COVID can best be described as totalitarian chic. Australia’s population is just under 25.7 million and they have recorded a total of 82 deaths from COVID for 2021, all of which occurred since April 13. The response is even more draconian when you consider that 60 of the 82 deaths - 73.2% of all deaths - occurred in those 70 or older. If you expand this group to those 60 and older the number of deaths is 70 - 85.4% of the 82 total deaths!
To put this in perspective, more people died in Australia from shark attacks (8) in 2020 than people under 40 died from COVID (6) so far in 2021.
I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but I’m having a hard time seeing the difference between Communist China and Australia’s response to COVID.
