Biden's Betrayal

The Biden Administration claims that 56,700 people have been evacuated from Afghanistan. I’m glad they got out, I really am. But how many of these are Americans? How many are Afghanis who assisted the U.S.?

I have yet to hear the Biden Administration answer basic questions like (1) how many American citizens are in Afghanistan?; (2) where are they located?; (3) why are there still Americans trapped in Kabul who can’t get to the airport?; (4) is there a plan to evacuate those located outside of Kabul?

On August 23, 2021 Yahoo News reported that it obtained a government document marked “For Official Use Only” stating that 3,376 U.S. citizens have been air lifted out of Kabul as of Saturday (Aug 21). After this news broke the Biden Administration reported that around 4,000 Americans had been evacuated. Pathetic.

On August 17, Pentagon spokesperson Kirby stated that their were 5,000 to 10,000 American citizens in Kabul. He also admitted he had no idea how many Americans were in Afghanistan or where in Afghanistan they are. The same day White House Press Secretary Psaki stated there were 11,000. Bush's Asst. Secretary of State Robert Charles says there are between 15,000 and 40,000 Americans are in Afghanistan.

Given Psaki and Kirby qualified their statements as Americans “in Kabul,” the 15,000 to 40,000 number is more realistic, with it likely being closer to the high estimate than the low. How do they plan on getting these people out? Hell, as of the 21st they have only evacuated between 31% and 67% of Americans they think are in Kabul! For the whole of Afghanistan, the Biden Administration has evacuated between 8% and 22% of the estimated 15,000 to 40,000 Americans.

The Biden Administration has created, what charitably, can be described as a debacle. In a week, Biden has betrayed everyone who relied on the U.S. The men and women of our military who fought, were wounded, and died in Afghanistan. American citizens who are now stranded in Afghanistan. Our NATO allies who supported us in Afghanistan. Afghanis who fought and worked with us and who are being left behind to be hunted down and executed.

All due to Biden’s fanatical adherence to a flawed plan and arbitrary dead lines, in spite of the reality of what was happening on the ground.
