Government, Media, And Deception - A Disaster Looking For A Place To Happen.
"The durability of free speech and free press rests on the simple concept that it search for the truth and tell the truth."
The MSM put out a video of Biden getting his booster shot in what looks like an office on the WH grounds. Great optics. To bad it’s fake - the room was a movie set. Really. What the Biden Administration and media showed America:
The reality:
Why build a movie set the WH grounds to deceive Americans where Biden got his shot, when he lives and works in the real WH? I don’t know, but I’m disturbed by this latest deception - or lie if you prefer.
Some see this is a ‘harmless’ deception. I disagree. Every lie - small or large - a President engages in erodes the trust and respect Americans have for him, more importantly, it erodes the trust and respect Americans have for the office he holds. That is not ‘harmless.’ More disturbing, this is not an isolated instance. It’s just the latest lie in a long and ever expanding list of lies from the boarder is secure to the $3.5 Trillion spending bill cost “zero.”
As disturbing as I find the government lying, I find the MSM role in creating this lie more so. The MSM partnered with the government to make a fake event look real and then flooded the news with the hoax video. What’s more, the Administration and MSM would have gotten away with this hoax, except for one person who actually engaged in journalism and tweeted out the accurate photo. The next logical question is how many other government lies, deceptions, and hoaxes has the MSM and journalists failed to report or actively participated in?
The MSM is quick to lecture us on the importance of a free and honest press in a democratic society. Many news organizations even have mottos implicitly or explicitly reminding us of this. The Washington Post uses “Democracy Dies in Darkness." CNN has had a few “The Most Trusted Name In News” and “Facts First” are two. The NY Times uses “All the news that's fit to print.” They correct and we should often be reminded how important a free and honest press is to democracy. Now all the MSM needs to do is listen to their lectures and follow the spirit of their mottos, because as of now they are ignoring both.
I don’t expect perfection from journalists and the MSM. I do expect journalists and the MSM to at least aspire to fulfill their duty to the nation, which is nothing more than asking hard questions and honestly reporting the facts - all of the facts - they discover. To do less turns journalists into political activists with bylines and the MSM into propaganda agencies, which will kill a free press more effectively then government censorship.
Time for our ‘free press’ and ‘journalists’ to earn those titles.
