Monday Roundup IX - A Fire Breathing Senator, The Candid and Professional Taliban, Stuff to Ponder, Weather Selectively Targeting Only One Airline, and more
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.
Disgusting: “Kyrsten Sinema berated by activists in bathroom at Arizona State University.” Disagree with her. Protest if you desire. But taking video of a woman in a bathroom while harassing her is nothing more than being a perv in need of jail time.
Our State Department informs us that a “meeting with senior Taliban leaders was ‘candid and professional.’” Meanwhile, in the real world Human Rights Watch: “For Afghan Women, the Frightening Return of ‘Vice and Virtue’” Guess maybe the Taliban could be candid about beating women and anyone else they take a disliking to, but I don’t think that’s a positive. Why are we even talking to these terrorists with a 7th century mentality?
Yea, no…
Attorney General Declares War on Free Speech and Parents. In response to hysterical and factually incorrect allegations from the National School Boards Association (NSBA) the AG has unleashed the DOJ and FBI on parents for the crime of engaging in free speech. I wrote about it here. The neo has more indicating this may have been pre-planned and coordinated between the NSBA and DOJ. Talk about authoritarianism.
Sounds about right:
Gee, Maybe those defund the police and no bail ideas were better in theory than reality? From CNN “US records highest increase in nation's homicide rate in modern history, CDC says.” Can’t say these numbers are solely due to the no bail and defund the police movements, but those movements are certainly a part of the problem.
Interesting…fastest rising homicide rate in modern history and highest number of people with concealed carry permits. “Concealed Carry Licenses Jump 10.5% in 2020, 8.3% of Adults Now Have Carry Permits.” When seconds count a cop is only minutes away...
How’s that vaccine mandate working out? Over the weekend Southwest Air cancelled at least 1.800 flights and as of Monday afternoon over 360. SWA claims it’s due to weather - weather that is strangely affecting only SWA. Unconfirmed reports say the cancelled flights are really due to a sick-out by SWA employees over SWA’s vaccine mandate.
From the Babylon Bee: Southwest Airlines Offering Free Flights To All Passengers Who Are Vaccinated And Can Fly A Plane.
Love him or hate him, you have to admit Sen. Paul is the 21st century equivalent of napalm:
Great. Now all students in New York City will receive the same substandard education. NYC’s gifted and talented program will be phased out under a new “Brilliant NYC.” Ever notice how politicians attach such noble sounding names to really stupid ideas?
Been pondering things. Inflation jumped from 1.7% in Nov. to 5.25% in Aug; in less than a year gas is up $1.08 to $3.25/gal nationally; natural gas prices are up 99% year-to-date; there’s a supply chain crisis threatening the economy; our ports are overwhelmed; there’s a trucker shortage; Southwest airline workers are walking, or their is bad weather that affects only SWA; France withdrew its ambassador; and our allies have lost trust in us over the Kabul debacle. With all this going on our President seems to be in, going to, or coming from Delaware. In his free time he jets off to Pennsylvania for his nephew’s wedding. Secretary of Transportation Buttigieg hosted a virtual round table on supply chain problems; Blinken’s State Department held a candid and professional meeting with Taliban leaders; and Attorney General Garland declared war on parents’ free speech rights.
Is it just me, or does the Biden Administration seem to have strange priorities and lack a sense of urgency?
The only thing more underwater than Biden’s Job Approval Numbers is the Mariana Trench. From Real Clear Politics:
You knew someone would go there…
Yep, Arizona is different…
